What a success!
The online recipe-sharing site Marmiton, leader in this market in France for more than fifteen years, saw its number of visitors increase by 30% during the confinements of 2020. Assigned to residence, the French rushed to the site to 25 million unique visitors per month to make, as a priority, pancakes, chocolate fondants and roast chickens!

During the confinement, the site had 30% more audience,
explains Christophe Duhamel, the founder of the site who left the management for two years but continues to closely follow the evolution of Marmiton.
Usually, there are 18 or 19 million unique visitors per month, we have gone to 25 million this year. "
If the operation was not financially beneficial for Marmiton, for lack of advertisers, it in any case attracted many new cooks.
Comforting recipes
“There are two reasons for this success in my opinion: firstly, people needed to take care of and comfort each other,”
continues Christophe Duhamel.
We can clearly see it in the recipes that were most sought after during confinement: they are linked to comfort, to gluttony: from chocolate cake to tiramisu, including cookies, roast chicken or leg of lamb.
But by far the most viewed recipe is pancakes! ”
For Christophe Duhamel, the second reason for Marmiton's success this year is the desire of the confined French to cut their diet.
“Usually, the French turn on an average of ten recipes per year,
continues Christophe Duhamel.
But being at home, they had to dig deep to try to find new recipes.
You end up getting really fed up with pasta, rice ... "
