The recent operation of the Ministry of the Interior against 76 places of worship suspected of being “separatist Muslims” put the el-Baraka mosque in Lunel (Hérault) back in the spotlight, which had hit the headlines in 2014- 2015 after the departure of around twenty jihadists and death threats against an imam condemning the departures to Syria.
Last November, the said mosque was indeed included in the list of sites targeted by Place Beauvau.
It was even included in the 18 places of worship to be the subject of "
immediate actions taken at the request of the Minister"
, the establishment having in particular to be inspected to verify compliance with the rules in force on establishments open to the public ( ERP).
