Since the end of the Christmas holidays, the students in the district have been studying homeschooling alone in front of their screens at home.

One of them is Felix Bauch (16).

He attends the tenth grade at Oberhaching grammar school and is spokesman for the student council.

In an interview, he tells how everyday life is currently going and what the students lack most.

How was the restart after the holidays?

We already had it in a similar form last year.

In this respect you have already got used to it.

Whereby the offer has improved significantly.

This is really the real class that takes place online.

And, what was surprising: Mebis is not completely lubricated on the first day of school.

That is also progress.

How exactly does an online school day go?

As a rule, we have online tuition in the main subjects via MSTeams, as provided in our timetable.

We also get work orders there.

In other subjects we have nothing, there is time to work and correct.

In the meantime we have had online lessons in all subjects.

What about subjects like sports?

That is of course difficult.

Rather, it appeals to our self-discipline.

We got a list where you can enter results every day.

How many pull-ups or how many push-ups you did.

Then to see the progress.

How do you motivate yourself not to sit in your pajamas in front of the computer until noon and do something else on the side?

Life goes on.

You have to be aware of that.

Of course, motivation drops at some point in the morning if you sit in front of the computer all the time and not with the others at school.

But the fact that we now have lessons controlled by teams, that you not only listen, but are also challenged when someone calls you, makes it easier.

Sleeping in and not participating has probably also become more difficult ...

Every morning and usually at the beginning of each lesson, a check is made to ensure that every student is there.

If not, there is a message to the secretariat and they report this to the parents.

How is the mood in the class?

It's a shame that you only ever see the teacher.

So you don't get much from the others - but more from the lessons (laughs).

But the class community is falling apart a bit.

You just write via Whatsapp.

And we boys like to play computer games too - there is an internet platform that we use to talk to each other.

We now also use it in the breaks.

Do the teachers come up with anything, any great ideas?

You might watch a film, work on an online mind map together.

Most teachers try to get through the essentials - which still doesn't always work.

How do you structure your day?

Get up on time, take a look at Mebis or teams, what's going on, then take online lessons.

In the afternoon you are mostly still busy with work orders.

But you have nothing else to do anyway.

Sport and everything else that you do in your free time is currently falling flat anyway.

There are a lot of handball and soccer players in my class.

Personally, I like to swim.

None of that works, you definitely get lazy.

Sure you go out into the fresh air, but in the end you often end up in front of the PC.

What do you miss most right now?

Friends, of course.

Now is the time when you find yourself and enjoy celebrating with others.

And when it comes to school, many find that face-to-face teaching is easier to ask about problems.

Many do not dare to do this in online lessons.

And many have told me that classroom teaching makes it easier for them to grasp the material.

Many fear that weaker students will fall by the wayside ...

The concern is justified.

There are students who actively need the support of their teachers.

Many do not manage to organize themselves well.

Others lack self-discipline.

Do most students understand the limitations and do they stick to the guidelines?

As everywhere, there are a few outliers.

But most of them stick to it.

Of course, many are annoyed.

Especially since it is currently not foreseeable when everything will be back to normal.
