A bus with fifty people crashed this Monday on a route in southern Brazil.
The accident left at least
19 dead
.
The vehicle was traveling on the road when it
collided with the guardrail,
left the road and fell down the side of the asphalt at kilometer 668 of the BR-376 road, at 8.30 am (local time).
The bus was passing through Guaratuba, on the coast of Paraná, a Brazilian state on the border with Paraguay and Argentina.
He had left last Friday from Ananindeua (state of Pará, north) to the municipality of Balneario Camboriú, in Santa Catarina (south), a journey of
almost 3,700 kilometers
to the scene of the accident.

According to the latest report from the authorities, 19 people lost their lives, while
33 were injured
, six of them seriously.
The fatal victims are 13 adults, 5 adolescents and a child.
There were 53 people in the vehicle at the time of the accident, in addition to the two drivers.
The authorities highlighted that the vehicle was a few meters to the side of the road.
If it had completely broken down to the bed of a neighboring river, "the death toll would have been more significant."
Ambulances and helicopters of the Brazilian Firefighters traveled to the place to rescue the injured, who were transferred to health centers in Curitiba and Joinville, according to the Brazilian news portal G1.

One of the drivers of the bus was transferred to the Civil Police Station in Guaratuba, in charge of the investigations and where he must give his account of what happened.
The authorities revealed that, according to this driver, the vehicle experienced a problem with the brakes after starting the "curve of the Sierra", a sector in which other accidents had already occurred.
However, the bus driver said "it was too late" when he realized the damage, according to the account given to Folha de Sao Paulo.
The company Turismo Pires da Cruz, based in Ananindeua, reported that the bus it owned had left Belem, the capital of Pará, on a trip hired by a
particular group of people
on Friday

The bodies of the victims were sent to the Curitiba Institute of Legal Medicine (IML), from where they must be taken by air to the Amazon.
