The City Council of Aleppo has completed about 80 percent of the rehabilitation project for the eastern garage in the Al-Shaar neighborhood, after the devastation and destruction caused by terrorism, in preparation for placing it at the service of travelers to the eastern countryside of the governorate at a cost of 200 million Syrian pounds.

Eng. Jamal Karim, Assistant Director of Technical Affairs in the City Council of Aleppo said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the restoration work includes the administration building on the ground floor, parking canopies, and reinforcing external bridges to them through the establishment of metal connections, as well as the rehabilitation of the infrastructure of water, electricity and sewage networks. About 80 percent of the project.

Karim pointed out that the area of the garage is five thousand square meters, in addition to an internal yard of 2,200 square meters. Inside the garage there are 12 alcoves for ticketing, 12 shops to serve it, and an external canopy for parking an area of 1,500 square meters.

Karim indicated that work has been made to create a center inside the garage to serve citizens coming from the countryside and enable them to obtain the required documents to relieve them of their burdens instead of reaching the city center. The project is expected to be completed within two months.

Engineer Zainab Haj Taleb, the project supervisor, indicated that at the beginning of the project, work was carried out to remove the rubble from the main halls and parking lots, and the demolished service shops and concrete partitions were restored, the sewage networks and infrastructure were prepared, the front facades of the building and the ticket-cutting niches were restored, the stone dressed, and the parking lots were prepared from Sidewalks and pillars, building the rundown parts of the outer wall, and re-installing the iron grid for it.

Haj Taleb added that the damaged structural restoration work has been carried out on the roofs, trophies and tiles with an area of 200 cubic meters of reinforced concrete in the front and back halls, and work continues to implement the front aluminum facades, pointing out that the external canopy can accommodate from 40 to 50 cars and there is a public yard and can accommodate 200 cars.

Haytham Hakka, Director of the Eastern Garage, stated that the repair of the garage contributes to the ease of passenger movement and the entry and exit of cars to and from the garage, pointing out that there are waiting halls for passengers and ticket offices in an orderly and comfortable manner.

A number of travelers and microbus drivers stressed the importance of completing the garage and putting it into service to facilitate the movement of travelers and protect them from the heat of the sun in summer and winter rains, and to organize the entry and exit of cars.
