Covid-19: Germany, United Kingdom, Portugal ... Which countries in Europe are reconfining?

Several of our neighbors have chosen to re-define their population in the face of the epidemic of coronavirus and its variants.

Some put a curfew on these restrictions, others allow schools or ski resorts to open.

The

containment

is a policy that requires - or face sanctions - a population to remain in its housing.

Exceptions are provided to be able to play sports, walk your pet, or go shopping.

The

curfew

also obliges a population to stay in their accommodation, but only authorizes exits for cases of force majeure such as going to work, to the hospital, etc.

Confinement can therefore be accompanied by a curfew.

The confined countries of Europe

In the

United Kingdom

, where the epidemic figures are worse than in the spring, the British are still under strict containment.

From December 20, the south of the country (including London) was placed in containment, quickly followed by Wales and Northern Ireland at the end of December.

On January 4 and 5, Prime Minister Boris Johnson decided to extend the lockdown to all British nations, less than a month after the previous lockdown was lifted.

The

Ireland

has reconfiné its partially population for Christmas before hardening its measures on 30 December, closing non-essential schools and shops.

Travel is limited to 5 kilometers around his home, and gatherings between people from different homes are prohibited.

The

Germany

figure of the "good student" at the beginning of the pandemic, decided to confine its people as his health situation has severely deteriorated.

In mid-December, the government declared confinement, then extended until February 14.

Bars, restaurants, sports halls, cultural institutions, non-essential shops and schools have since been closed.

the Netherlands

, since November 4, containment is still in progress, and this at least until February 9.

Schools and non-essential businesses are closed, it is forbidden to receive more than one person per day at home.

Since January 23, a curfew from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. has been introduced in addition to the previous measures.

The

Denmark

had initially opted for a strict containment differentiated depending common.

A third of them were concerned, but the measures were extended to the entire territory until February 7.

Austria

, the population is confined for the third time since December 26, and until February 8.

Hungary

, containment measures were extended from January 8 to February 1.

This confinement imposes the closures of non-essential businesses, a night curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and the closures of high schools and universities.

The

Slovakia

announced a partial containment from 21 December it was extended until February 7.

This confinement implies a closure of non-essential businesses and cultural institutions in particular.

The

Poland

imposed a containment December 28 for three weeks containment which was extended in mid-January.

To date, only the youngest schoolchildren (6 to 9 years old) have returned to class, schools had been closed since November 9.

The

Lithuania

since November 7, 2020 until January 31, 2021, a "

national quarantine

" is implemented throughout the territory.

Leaving one's municipality is prohibited except for compelling reasons such as death, medical assistance, work ...

Cyprus

has also announced a new lockdown: all travel is prohibited except for "

basic needs

", such as shopping, going to the doctor, or playing sports.

Any exceptional travel must be requested by SMS to the authorities and only a maximum of two outings are authorized per day.

In addition to this confinement, the curfew remains in effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The whole of

Greece

has been subject to containment from November 7, 2020 until February 1.

A nighttime curfew is also applied between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Travel between regions is prohibited.

Elsewhere in the world

Outside of Europe, other countries are currently confined.

The

Lebanon

has decided on 21 January to extend two-week strict confinement imposed initially until January 25, to curb the exponential growth of the epidemic and relieve congested hospitals.

Its neighbor,

Israel,

is still under lockdown until the end of January.

In

Canada

, containment is differentiated by province.

Ontario, the richest province in the country, tightened its confinement conditions on January 19.

The province had been under confinement for two weeks and since the beginning of November for its capital, Toronto.

In

Brazil

, the state of Amazonas instituted a one-week lockdown from January 25, after 10 days of curfew.

In

Zimbabwe

, containment measures are still underway.

In

Thailand

, only Bangkok has decreed partial containment.
