The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department today (25th) urged the public to stop using a "Belkin" brand and model WIZ003 charger and contact the Hong Kong supplier "Belkin Asia Pacific Limited" to arrange the return of the product and a refund.
The supplier stated that the power supply device of the affected batch of chargers was found to be defective, which may cause the charger to malfunction and overheat, posing a fire and electric shock hazard. Therefore, it decided to arrange the recycling of the product and issue a full refund.
The charger was put on sale in Hong Kong in July last year. If you have purchased this charger, you can call the supplier’s Cantonese telephone hotline at 800 905 388 (service hours are from 9 am to 5:30 pm) or English telephone hotline 800 962 100 (24-hour service) to confirm whether the purchased charger model is affected by the batch and arrange the return of the product and refund.
Belkin Asia Pacific Limited has announced the charger recycling details on its website and will proactively contact local customers who have purchased the affected chargers via email to explain the product recycling arrangements.
