The interrogation of Pietro Morreale, the 19-year-old who yesterday morning, after having presented himself to the Carabinieri of Caccamo, found the partially burned body of his girlfriend Roberta in a ravine went on for the whole night and ended only at dawn. Siragusa, aged 17.
Before the deputy public prosecutor of Termini Imerese Giacoma Barbara, who coordinates the investigation, the suspect allegedly continued to deny that he was responsible for the death of his girlfriend.
Last night the lawyer Giuseppe Di Cesare, who assists Morreale, had said: "My client has not confessed to either the prosecutor or the carabinieri".
Before Morreale, the magistrate had wanted to hear about ten young people who had participated on Saturday evening, together with the engaged couple, in a party in a villa in the Monte San Calogero area in the countryside of Caccamo, not far from the place where he was recovered the girl's body. The witnesses spoke of a quarrel over jealousy between the two boyfriends, who allegedly left the country house around midnight. Roberta had in fact assured her parents that she would be back by one in the morning. When on Sunday morning the parents realized that their daughter was not at home and that she was not answering her cell phone, they went to the carabinieri, shortly afterwards the boyfriend also showed up at the barracks.
