Today, the Dutch police continued their suppression of the protest demonstrations in several cities in protest against the government's policies related to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, including the imposition of a curfew, using tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, and arrested dozens of them.
The European website Euro News stated that the number of those arrested by the Dutch police during the protests several days ago reached 155, including 55 in the city of Eindhoven, in the south of the Netherlands.
In the capital, Amsterdam, police arrested about 100 people during a demonstration in which about 1,500 people took part.
The protesters against the curfew set fire to the Corona virus testing center in the village of Urk, northeast of Amsterdam, while the demonstrators threw fireworks, stones, bottles and Molotov cocktails in response to the police crackdown on them in Stein, southeastern Netherlands.
The curfew is angering part of the population in the Netherlands and faces opposition from some MPs, including right-wing leader Geert Wilders.
Last Wednesday, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutke announced that the decision to impose a curfew was taken with the spread of the British version of the mutated Corona virus emerging in an attempt to control the epidemic.
