Israeli minister's first visit: Eli Cohen arrived in Sudan and met with senior Israeli officials

Minister of Intelligence Eli Cohen visited Sudan today (Monday) and met with senior officials in the country and the heads of the defense and intelligence system.
This is the first visit of an Israeli minister to Sudan.
Three weeks ago, during a visit by the US Secretary of State to the Trump administration, Steve Manuchin, in Khartoum, he and Sudan's Justice Minister Nasser a-Din 'Abd al-Bari signed the Abrahamic Declaration, which was also signed by the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

In recent weeks of the Trump administration, the White House has tried to organize a solemn signing ceremony attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Sudanese President Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
One option was to hold such a ceremony in Abu Dhabi this week as part of Netanyahu's first visit to the United Arab Emirates.
But the closure in Israel and security tensions between Sudan and Ethiopia have taken the idea off the agenda.

Following the normalization process with Israel, Sudan has been examining in recent weeks the repeal of the 1958 boycott of Israel law that banned Sudanese citizens from visiting Israel, trading with it, importing Israeli products, maintaining contacts with Israeli entities and even trading with companies with branches in Israel.
