Five people, including a pregnant woman, were found dead Sunday in Indianapolis, Indiana, in what the mayor has called a mass homicide.
The names and ages have yet to be revealed, as has the possible motive behind the event.
Mayor Joe Hogsett said the shooting "has terrified the community
.
"
"This morning the city of Indianapolis was the target of an act of depravity that has become too common in the country and will never cease to shock the conscience," he told reporters.

Hogsett said
the evidence gathered so far suggests the killings were not linked to the "deadly confluence of guns, substance abuse and poverty"
in the city, which he said officials had been working to address for years.
Police found the first victim, a minor, around 4 a.m. (local time) suffering from gunshot wounds in the northeast of the city center, a police spokesman told reporters.
Later, agents found the bodies of five people in a house located less than half a mile away.

The shot pregnant woman was taken to a hospital.
Both she and her unborn baby were pronounced dead
moments later, according to the spokesperson.
The young man who was originally found is expected to survive.
