The parliamentarian for the HDP in Turkey, Omar Faruk Cırcıolu, confirmed that there are more than 800 children and infants in the detention facilities of the Turkish regime, describing this matter as a tragedy.
The Turkish Zaman newspaper reported that in his speech before Parliament, Gergerlioglu touched on the tragedy of arresting mothers with their children and throwing them into Turkish prisons.
"What kind of cruelty is this ... Mothers were arrested with their children, and some of their husbands were also detained," Gergerlioglu asked.
Gergerlioglu showed a picture of the Turkish nurse Yasmine Malizji, her husband and their 9-month-old baby daughter, who was arrested last week with her baby, as well as another photo of Ayada Takjuz, the Turkish mother who was also detained with her children, who are one and a half and four years old, who are all in prison now.
Gergerli pointed out that the practices of the Turkish regime's authorities would destroy the generation of children and break up families, pointing to the parliament, which is dominated by the Justice and Development Party, rejecting the amnesty bill that was presented in this regard.
Official statistics issued by the Turkish regime authorities in November 2019 indicate that there are 780 children with their mothers in Turkish prisons.
Since the failed coup attempt in 2016, Erdogan's government launched a widespread crackdown that included all public sectors and resulted in the arrest of about 80,000 people and the isolation or suspension of about 150,000 government employees, army, police and others.
