Kreissparkasse: 5.70 meters are the "game changer"

Green light for the demolition and new construction of the Kreissparkassen branch in Unterhaching: misunderstandings about an alleged parking lot chaos were cleared up

Green light for the demolition and new construction of the Kreissparkassen branch in Unterhaching: misunderstandings about an alleged parking lot chaos have been cleared up.

Unterhaching

- What takes a long time is finally good: This wisdom applies to the plans of the Kreissparkasse Munich, which wants to tear down its branch in Unterhaching and rebuild it.

The building application, with some crazy parking options, has been rejected several times since 2019 (we reported), but now the Kreissparkasse has succeeded in dispelling the resistance with a modified version: the municipal building committee unanimously gave its placet in the third attempt.

The virtual start in the building committee meeting initially jerked.

“It should be there - it is not,” said Mayor Wolfgang Panzer (SPD) when the architect Alexander Schwab could actually have been connected via video conference.

The subject was postponed, half an hour later the line was up.

And Alexander Schwab was able to clear up all sorts of concerns briefly and concisely.

“The previous building will be pushed 5.70 meters further away from the street”: This was ultimately the decisive argument with which the architect initiated the turnaround in terms of mood.

“This creates enough space,” said Alexander Schwab.

For parking, as well as for somewhat awkward maneuvering in the side parking spaces.

But just in such a way that there is no danger to the general public.

"This 5.70 meter building offset makes all turning maneuvers more comfortable," said the CSU parliamentary group leader Korbinian Rausch, saying they were the "game changer".

In fact, with the new space available, which was not apparent from old plans, resistance crumbled.

Park chaos at the Kreissparkasse?

Eliminated.

More bicycle parking spaces are desired

A few points of criticism flared up.

Insufficiently dimensioned bicycle parking spaces, complained Dieter Senninger (SPD) and Stefan König (Greens) in unison.

The Greens also pointed to photovoltaic power generation plus a mirror at the “dangerous underground car park exit”.

Yes, the architect assured, that all these optional options will be taken into account - whether they become a “must” is ultimately decided by the Kreissparkasse as the client.

But, as the architect emphasized so literally: “Please do not regard the Kreissparkasse as an enemy of Unterhaching!” On the contrary, the community must be happy about the willingness to keep the location in Hauptstrasse.

With his closing words, CSU boss Korbinian Rausch hit the core of the debate after a year and a half of planning hiccups: "It was never about slowing down the Kreissparkasse, but about comfortable and practical solutions especially for their customers." That is now guaranteed - so the green light.
