Germany's path to becoming a nation

2021-01-25T11:28:30.210Z

In the period around 1800 the world changed radically. The French ruler moved like a storm through Europe and swept away the old order - the Germans had to deal with the consequences for a long time.

When Letizia Buonaparte had her fourth child on August 15, 1769 in her house on rue Malerba in the Corsican capital Ajaccio, the world was still all right.

On that day, even his mother couldn't imagine that it would be this little boy, her Nabulione, who would take care of this order once and for all.

It's still difficult to this day.

Even more than 250 years after his birth, the mystery of Napoleon remains fascinating: a nobody conquers half of Europe, wins battles against the greatest generals of his time, crowns himself emperor and then disappears again where he came from - to an island.

But in between, in these few years, he revolutionized the European legal system with a civil code, promoted the sciences and the development of modern politics, which was no longer open only to the aristocracy and the military.

And he becomes a superstar, the most famous man of his time, who everyone wants to see, who everyone wants to read about.
