At the 9:00 am check-in on Tuesday, Charlie Dalin was still leading the Vendée Globe fleet off Cape Finisterre.
A little more than 24 hours from the finish, the skipper of Apivia was 85 miles ahead of Boris Herrmann (Seaexplorer-Yacht Club de Monaco), who took 2nd place to Louis Burton (Bureau Vallée 2). also pointed 85 miles from the leader.
Remember that the German has six hours of bonus for having taken part in the rescue of Kevin Escoffier which will have to be deducted at the finish and seems currently in the best position to win this Vendée Globe.
But nothing is played.
The top trio is expected at Les Sables d'Olonne on Wednesday.
In the same case as Herrmann but with a slightly larger bonus (10:15 am), Yannick Bestaven (Maître Coq, 5th, +343) chose to go due north, like Thomas Rettant (LinkedOut, 4th, 298) to go look for strong wind before the turn to Vendée.
