Al-Hasakah Agriculture Directorate confirmed that the crops of wheat and barley grown in the governorate's lands have been free from insect infestations to date.
The head of the directorate’s prevention department, Eng. Ismail Mulla Muhammad, said in a statement to SANA’s correspondent today that the department, through the field tours that it is carrying out on the various agricultural areas spread in the governorate, has not detected the presence of insect infestations in the fields to date.
He pointed out that the frost wave that struck the governorate during the past few days will contribute positively to reducing the spread of these insects in the future, especially the insects that make grains and planting worms by eliminating them because they do not live in low-temperature climates.
The area cultivated with wheat and barley crops in Al-Hasakah governorate for the current season is 958 thousand hectares distributed over the various areas of agricultural stability.
