Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Dr. Shafiq Dayoub discussed with the President of Iran University of Medical Sciences Dr. Jalil Kohpayzadeh ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the university and the medical, therapeutic and scientific centers in Syria and upgrading them to the level of distinguished strategic political relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Diop pointed out that terrorism has targeted the infrastructure of the health sector in Syria over the years of the war, and the state is working with all its energies to secure medical, medicinal and therapeutic supplies for citizens and to restore what the war has destroyed, explaining that from here comes the importance of bilateral cooperation and the exchange of experiences in this important sector because there are potentials on both sides. They complement each other, especially since the two countries are subjected to unjust penalties and coercive measures in various fields, especially the medical and treatment sector, in light of the outbreak of the Corona pandemic.
Ambassador Diop pointed to the importance of meaningful cooperation in the medical and therapeutic field, especially medical education, dentistry, pharmacy, postgraduate courses, nursing, rehabilitation and psychiatry, given the role and importance of this vital field in the daily life of citizens.
For his part, Dr. Kohpayzadeh affirmed the readiness of Iran University of Medical Sciences to provide its educational, therapeutic and medical services to the Syrian side and to work with the therapeutic sectors in Syria. He said that the unjust war on Syria has greatly damaged the health infrastructure there, and that there are various areas for cooperation to overcome the challenges and negative consequences of that war.
The President of Iran University of Medical Sciences pointed to the importance of virtual education and stressed the continuation of coordination between medical centers in Iran and Syria, in order to benefit the interests of both sides.
