In a landscape of dating applications dominated by major American players (Match Group with Meetic, and Tinder, Bumble, etc.), French company Happn has succeeded in establishing itself as a serious competitor.
Founded in 2014 and directed by Didier Rappaport, behind the success of the Dailymotion video platform, the French dating application has just passed the milestone of 100 million registered users worldwide.
From the start, Happn opted for a different positioning, playing the card of proximity, far from a choice "on catalog".
Thanks to geolocation, the application allows its users to find online and in real time people who correspond to them, crossed in real life, in transport, at a workplace or on an outing.
The impact of the crisis
Present in around twenty countries, Happn is experiencing particularly dynamic growth in India, where it has 28 million users (compared to 7 million in France).
