The Prime Minister of Italy, Giuseppe Conte, resigned today (Tuesday) in the hope that the President, Silvio Materella, will impose on him another government train.

The purpose of the resignation is to avoid a critical no-confidence vote that could lead the country to elections, in which the country's dominant party, the Five Star Party, could lose significant power.

The state estimates that Matarla would prefer to impose a new government train on Conte, but he could either impose on another candidate or decide to go to the polls.

Matarla has previously expressed opposition to going to the polls under the Corona crisis.

Conte needs to find new supporters in parliament for his coalition after members of the Haim faction for Italy left the government and joined the ranks of the opposition.

More than 82,000 Italians have died from the corona plague and in a country where the immunization process is in its infancy, it is estimated that an eruption is far from over.

In the background of the political storm is a decision by the Ministry of Finance to begin assessing the damage done to the Italian economy during the Corona crisis, in order to devise a plan to emerge from the economic crisis.

Models published by the Ministry of Finance predict a possible deficit level of more than nine percent.
