Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted a bill that provides for a five-year extension of the Russian-American New Start Agreement on the Limitation of Nuclear Weapons, which is due to expire on February 5, the lower house of the Russian parliament said on Tuesday.

The agreement provides for the possibility of extending it for a period of up to five years, if Russia and the United States take such a decision (...) In January 2021, an agreement in principle of the parties was reached on an extension of five years,
