Do you have a pet at home?

For example a dog or a cat?

We have a wonderful line for you.

You may be more resistant to the corona virus and may be more moderately affected by the disease, says Dr. Hilik Marom, chairman of the Veterinary Association of Veterinarians.

According to Marom, a survey conducted by the American Veterinary Association, a very important organization that unites hundreds of thousands of doctors and operates at high scientific standards, found that veterinarians were less affected by the coronavirus even in cases where they were exposed to verified patients for a long time.

"According to the American organization, this is because there are four families of corona viruses and a total of 45 types of viruses and it is possible that doctors who are constantly exposed to different corona viruses in animals develop relative resistance to the disease," says Dr. Marom.

Dr. Marom and the Association of Veterinary Physicians in Israel who read the American publication also found that in Israel the situation is similar to what is stated in the survey. "After reading the publication, we decided to conduct our survey.

We approached all the members of the association, we asked how hours a day they work, how many years they work with animals and how much exposure they have.

What has become clear to us is that there is a real link between a high amount of exposure to animals and the chances of getting a less severe illness with at all.

In fact, it is possible that people who raise animals will start less for the same reason, "he says.

We had the conversation with Dr. Marom after the Israeli veterinarians' organization responded to a publication in "Israel Today" according to which scientists around the world call for vaccinating domestic animals against the coronavirus. In response, the organization published a statement stating that -19.

"According to the Association of Veterinarians for Pets, anyone who keeps in close contact with animals has a chance of developing immunity to various strains of existing corona viruses."

"It is important to note that immune overlap between different corona groups is not yet known. Such exposure may also produce apparent immunity to Covid 19. This idea is innovative and opens the door to diverse and non-protein-specific research and immunization procedures - as currently applied to existing mRNA vaccines. The organization and researchers from the Ministry of Health decided to study the material and examine it, as well as to collect data from different populations and sectors in the country, "the organization said in a statement.

In a conversation with us, Dr. Marom added: “There is no proven case in the world, not in minks, not in cats, not in dogs, not in any other animal that the virus has returned from the animal to the human.

Of course, it is always possible, at least scientifically, but there is no reason to just stress. "
