In a high school in the Ardèche, Sarah, 17, a discreet student, one fine day asks some of her teachers to call her Paul.
At the time, the supervisors of the boarding school where she resides already called her by this "customary name".
“I explained to Sarah that I was a civil servant.
And that as long as his marital status is not changed, I will continue to call him that, ”
says his sports teacher.
For five years he has observed in his students
“A voluntary scrambling of codes”.
“Boys who wear a skirt over their jeans, girls with unisex outfits… Things that I think were adolescent eccentricity.
Two years ago, more militant students, linked to LGBT groups, began to claim to be “non-binary”.
But until then there were no institutional demands, ”he
explains.

Things change at the start of the 2020 school year when the principal of the high school tells the teachers that Sarah, who has just turned 18, will now be called Paul.
