In several cities in the Netherlands, there were again violent protests against the government-imposed corona curfew on Tuesday night.

The port city of Rotterdam was a focus of the riots.

At least ten police officers were injured there.

More than 50 rioters had been arrested, said the Rotterdam police chief Fred Westerbeeke on the Dutch radio on Tuesday morning.

Ambulances in emergency use were, according to him, disabled.

Hundreds of violent youths rioted for hours, attacked the police with fireworks and stones, looted shops and started fires.

At the beginning of the Corona curfew at 9 p.m., large groups of young people had gathered in more than ten cities in the Netherlands for the second night in a row.

For hours they roamed the centers, leaving a trail of devastation.

According to the police, the young people deliberately sought confrontation with the police.

Hertogenbosch, about 100 kilometers south of Amsterdam, was also a center of the unrest.

Shops were looted and fires started there.

Attempts were also made to attack the hospital, as the clinic reported.

Ambulances should have evaded.

"That was scary for the staff," said hospital director Piet-Hein Buiting to the regional radio.

Serious unrest in around ten cities had already shaken the country at the weekend.

The police had spoken of the worst riot in 40 years.

The police and mayor had already warned of further unrest after several calls appeared on social media.

Worry about riots in Belgium too

After the serious Corona riots in the Netherlands, there are concerns in Belgium that the protests could spill over to their own country.

Several calls for demonstrations on Saturday in the border towns of Maasmechelen, Sint-Niklaas and Turnhout were shared on social media, reported the Flemish daily De Standaard.

His phone has been ringing since Monday afternoon because many people had seen the call, said the Mayor of Turnhout, Paul Van Miert, accordingly.

The police are trying to find out who is behind the call.

According to a police spokesman, investigations have also been initiated in Maasmechelen.

The authorities there are already investigating because a young man threw a Molotov cocktail at the former mayor's house on Monday evening, as the Belga news agency reported.

The act was made in connection with possible protests against the corona measures.
