Now it's official: Josef Niedermair (CSU) will face the Hallbergmoos mayoral election in April.

- The support and the result of the final talks on Tuesday evening with all parliamentary groups represented in the local council and the local councils of CSU, Free Voters, Unity, SPD and Greens were, as he said, decisive for his “yes” to the candidacy.
"I will make myself available and run for the office of mayor," the 63-year-old confirmed to the daily newspaper.
The decision to accept the mayor candidacy proposed to him was not an easy one for Niedermair.
Because actually he had already settled down quite well in his political (pre-) retirement - after 36 years as a local councilor, 18 years as a district councilor and twelve years as second mayor.
In the 2020 local elections, Niedermair decided not to run for a new council candidate, also to allow younger people to go first.
Niedermair knows about the "huge task and responsibility"
He really enjoyed having more time after retiring from politics in May 2020 - for the family, the grandchildren and his sport bowling, where he is responsible for the VfB Bundesliga bowlers as a department head.
The fact that in a difficult phase after the death of Mayor Harald Reents and under the influence of the pandemic, it now faces the "huge task and responsibility" is ultimately the result of intensive discussions with all council groups that have been held in recent weeks: "In We were able to create a good basis for the discussions, ”said Niedermair.
The family also backed him.
As an athlete and in politics, the 63-year-old sees himself as “a team player”.
The party book, he emphasizes, does not play a role in his political work.
Constructive work in the Council is important to him.
His credo: “People come together when they talk”.
He has already shown the parliamentary groups how he envisions the cooperation.
This includes involving everyone from his side.
“It is important to me that the interplay between the mayor and the municipal council works.
The local council is the boss - and I am a vote of 25. “Of course you can't please everyone.
And the mayor ultimately has to turn his head, knows the candidate-designate.
Lots of experience as "Vice" in the town hall
Because he has represented the town hall chiefs Klaus Stallmeister (FW) and Harald Reents (CSU) as deputy for twelve years, he knows employees, business and processes very well.
