At the 6 p.m. check-in on Wednesday, Charlie Dalin (Apivia) had 55.71 miles ahead of Louis Burton (Bureau Vallée) who had reduced his delay by five miles since 3 p.m.
The leader is now only 39.97 miles from the finish line at Les Sables d'Olonne, which he should cross between 7.45 p.m. and 8.15 p.m.
But all eyes are on Yannick Bestaven, currently fifth, but in the position of favorite for the final victory given the bonus planned in his favor: 10:15 am.
The skipper of Maître Coq IV was 183 miles behind the leader at 3:00 p.m. and three hours later the gap had fallen to 166.18 miles.
