The legal advisor of the Movement for Governance and Democracy and one of its founders, Adv. Simcha Rotman, joins the Religious Zionist Party led by MK Bezalel Smutrich, and will be a candidate on the list for the Knesset.
Rotman, who writes opinion and commentary columns in "Israel Today", is a well-known figure in the Israeli legal world.
He led the change in the Israeli discourse around the need for reforms in the judiciary and founded the Movement for Governance and Democracy that worked to curb the judiciary.
Rothman has been behind many initiatives promoted in recent years, including the appointment of legal advisers in government ministries as positions of trust, a change in the seniority system for the appointment of a Supreme Court president, a law requiring judges and senior civil servants to provide capital statements and more.
"I am proud to join a party that is unashamedly waving the flags of amending the justice system, strengthening settlement and governance in all parts of our country and strengthening the state's Jewish identity," Rothman said yesterday.
Smutrich added that "correcting the distortions in the justice system and returning the decision on value questions to the people through its elected representatives, are the key to advancing the values of the right."
