Damascus-SANA - Damascus University and the Higher Institute for Population Studies and Research signed today an agreement to enhance public cooperation

Damascus University and the Higher Institute for Population Studies and Research signed an agreement today to promote joint scientific and cultural cooperation, particularly in the fields of scientific research, training, development and knowledge dissemination.

Under the agreement, the two sides will exchange visits of faculty and administrative members with the aim of training, exchanging information and experiences, giving lectures, participating in various academic events, exchanging students for the sake of scientific qualification and training, and carrying out informational visits, in accordance with the rules of enrollment and admission and the regulations for student exchange.

The two sides shall work on implementing and developing joint research projects to be agreed upon and exchanging information on them in addition to cooperation in the field of holding conferences, seminars, research seminars, workshops and sports, artistic, social and cultural activities.

According to the agreement, the two sides benefit from the equipment and laboratories available to them, and the supervision of the recorded scientific theses will be a joint supervision of "master's and doctoral" theses.

Under the agreement, the two sides exchange all books, research journals, scientific references, scientific publications and periodical scientific publications, and benefit from the public and electronic libraries on both sides.

In a statement to SANA following the signing of the agreement, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdin, President of Damascus University, affirmed that the aim of the agreement is to improve the performance of graduate studies according to the terms and specifications of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, indicating that the institute is one of the most important bodies that work in population studies that relate to the departments of sociology and history in the Faculty of Arts And the human sciences and the Higher Institute of Regional Planning in all its studies and experiences, and there is a common necessity and need for cooperation in this field.

Dr. Haider Abbas, Dean of the Higher Institute for Population Studies and Research, pointed out the importance of making use of the existing infrastructure at the university, including laboratories and halls, as well as the expertise and research of professors, indicating that there is a plan to expand the master's specializations during the coming years to include all fields, especially with regard to health and the economy.
