Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, received today the credentials of Dr. Iyad Nasr, Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Syria.

During the meeting, talks revolved around strengthening cooperation between Syria and the United Nations Population Fund and developing a strong and positive relationship between the two parties through adopting mutual trust in all activities that the fund carries out in Syria.

The Resident Representative affirmed the Fund’s interest in continuing to work and cooperate with the Syrian government in a way that contributes to achieving goals that go beyond direct humanitarian relief and contribute to improving citizens ’livelihood and the sustainability of work in the areas of health care and social support for the Fund’s programs.

For his part, Minister Al-Miqdad praised the cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund and wished the new resident representative success in his duties, stressing the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation with the Syrian government to ensure the achievement of the desired results of the Fund's work and to increase the effectiveness of its activities in all Syrian regions.

The meeting was attended from the Syrian side by Milad Attia, Director of the Organizations Department, Dr. Sami Salama, Director of Protocols, Dr. Abdullah Hallaq, Director of the Minister’s Office, Yamen Yusuf from the Organizations Department, Roaa Sharbaji and Yazan al-Hakim from the Minister’s office.
