Christian Estrosi wants to accelerate.
The mayor of Nice has set an "
irrevocable
"
deadline
for the resumption of cultural life, and is counting on the maintenance of events planned this summer outdoors.
"
I have decided to declare September 15, 2021 as the irrevocable date for the reopening of all cultural activities in Nice
", he declared during his greetings to the world of culture.
The horizon of mid-September was chosen since "
it would correspond to the calendar of the government, which has undertaken to vaccinate all French people by August 30
", justifies the councilor.
"
Our metropolitan health security agency is working to build a health and legal dossier allowing this opening
", announces the mayor.
For the moment, the town hall is also continuing to prepare outdoor summer events such as the book festival or the Nice Jazz Festival, respectively scheduled for the end of May and mid-July.
This 2021 season will not be really like the others, however.
Christian Estrosi warns that we will have to rethink “
our relationship to show times
”.
The mayor is considering, for example, holding shows in the morning and at lunchtime.

The mayor, who recalls that the Spanish museums have never closed, and that they are gradually reopening in Italy, also asks the executive to reopen the museums in Nice without delay.
“
We need to keep our museums alive (...).
We would reopen on the model of public libraries, with gauge, freeze and distancing, on the basis of decentralization, experimentation, differentiation, according to the principle that all the museums in France do not have the same difficulty in managing flows as the Louvre. and its unusual attendance
,
”
said Christian Estrosi.

Theater directors, composers or artists present during the greetings welcome these announcements.
"
It's cheeky for a mayor to make such a proposal, it gives us hope, because the current situation is terrifying
"
,
welcomes Thierry Surace, director of the Théâtre de la Cité in Nice, at the microphone of France Bleu
.
In early January, the Minister of Culture explained that “
we have no visibility
” on the reopening of cultural places.
For Roselyne Bachelot,
"even if it is suffering"
, it would be risky to reopen in the absence of "
objective scientific elements
" on the risks of contamination in these spaces.
