The seven public hospitals, which claimed an economic collapse and a severe shortage of equipment and medicines, reached an agreement today (Wednesday) with the Ministry of Finance, which regulates their budgeting throughout 2021



. The Holy Family, the English and St. Vincent) - a budget increase for this year in the amount of NIS 960 million.

In addition, it was decided to establish a committee with representatives of the hospitals and officials from the Ministries of Finance and Health, who will recommend to the government on the subject prior to the approval of the state budget, when this is realized.



The Ministry of Finance had earlier issued a notice of a breakthrough in the agreement, but the hospitals denied this, and threatened to intensify their struggle, which has been going on for several weeks.

Finally, two hours later, the agreements were announced.

Public and government hospitals suffer from structural deficits, but while the state fills up the government hospitals deficit every year, public hospitals have to make up for the shortages from medical tourism and private services.

In the past year, in which the corona crisis has occurred, the state has asked hospitals to divert all activities in favor of treating corona patients so that hospital deficits have become deeper.



Following this, the hospitals went out to fight, and as part of it even threatened not to accept new patients who are not urgent.
