Global Health: Corona vaccines must be adjustable to meet virus mutations

Mike Ryan, head of the World Health Organization's emergency department, said today that coronavirus vaccines should be rapidly adjustable in case they become ineffective against mutated strains of the virus.

Reuters quoted Ryan as saying during a question-answering session on a social media, look at the flu. We change the vaccine formula twice a year and we have the ability to produce vaccines very quickly to counter the prevalent influenza strains.

He added, there is no reason, even in the future, that prevents us from vaccinating against Covid 19, if this virus develops to a point where our vaccines begin to lose their effectiveness, we can modify these vaccines and I think that is done quickly.

And the World Health Organization announced earlier today that the British Corona virus mutated is spreading in 70 countries, while the South African mutant is spread in 31 countries.

Studies are being conducted all over the world to determine the reasons for the mutated viruses being the most contagious, but a mystery still surrounds the extent of their danger, as many countries tightened their measures in an attempt to contain their spread.
