Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not interested in an immediate confrontation with US President Joe Biden on the Iranian issue, and wants to give an opportunity for dialogue on the issue with the new US administration - Walla Walla was told today (Wednesday)!

NEWS Three senior Israeli officials.

Biden intends to try and return to the nuclear deal with Iran, which Netanyahu vehemently opposed.

In recent weeks, Netanyahu and Biden appear to be on a collision course that will return them to the ongoing crisis that has gripped Israel-US relations as Netanyahu fought President Barack Obama over the nuclear deal - a struggle that culminated in a speech to the US Congress against the agreement.

A senior Israeli official who is intimately familiar with Netanyahu's line of thought on the issue said that there is a fundamental difference between the case of the Obama administration and the case of the Biden administration.

Obama has opened a secret channel of talks with the Iranians behind Israel's back, while Biden shows goodwill by emphasizing from day one that he intends to consult with Israel before making any decisions on the Iranian issue, the senior official said.

According to him, Netanyahu has a good personal relationship with Biden that has lasted for four decades, and these could serve as a shock absorber and help overcome difficulties and disagreements and resolve misunderstandings.

Two other senior Israeli officials said there was another reason Netanyahu intended to be wary of entering into an immediate confrontation with the Biden administration over the Iranian issue: Unlike the Obama administration in 2015, Biden now has a democratic majority in both the House and Senate.

Another reason for avoiding confrontation concerns the fact that Defense Minister Bnei Gantz and Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi are pushing for a different course of action from the one Netanyahu led during the Obama era.

Ashkenazi said yesterday at a conference of the Institute for National Security Studies that Israel should have a quiet dialogue with the Biden government on the nuclear agreement with Iran.

"No policy should be pursued in the media," Ashkenazi said a few minutes after Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi's speech, in which he publicly opposed a return to the agreement and announced that he was preparing for military action against Iranian nuclear facilities.

The senior Israeli source close to Netanyahu said The prime minister is not interested in a quarrel with Biden from day one, and is interested in working with him in consultation and consulting with him - but he will stand his ground against returning to the nuclear deal. "He does not want to push the agreement.

"He thinks the agreement is flawed from its foundations and that the Iranians will agree to compromise only if the pressure on them continues," the source said.

Their approach will serve as a restraining factor.

On Saturday night, National Security Adviser Meir Ben Shabbat spoke for the first time with his White House colleague Jake Sullivan.

Senior Israeli officials said the conversation was good and that they were satisfied with the White House announcement that Sullivan stressed that Washington wanted to consult with Israel and enter into a strategic dialogue with it.

In the coming days, a date will be set for the start of this dialogue.

The Corona's guidelines at the Biden White House are particularly stringent, and it is unclear whether it will be possible to host an Israeli delegation there soon or send a delegation to Jerusalem.

Senior Israeli officials estimate that the greatest chance is that the discussions on the subject will take place in a secure video calling system.
