Protests continued in Tripoli today against the background of deteriorating living and economic conditions during the general closure period due to the Corona virus, as protesters tried to storm the Banque du Liban in Tripoli, while the army blocked the road in front of Makiya station, and the crowd dispersed, resulting in injuries.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the protesters tried to storm the Banque du Liban in Tripoli, which prompted the army to cut off the road in front of them at the Makiya station. The frequency of clashes between protesters, riot police and Lebanese army personnel in front of the Tripoli Serail increased, expecting more than 23 wounded. The city of Sidon also witnessed a walking march of a number of protesters, which started from Elia Square to protest against the deteriorating living conditions. The protesters cut off the road to the trash containers and set them on fire.

In Tire, protesters at the entrance to the city carried out a protest stand, amid a security escort by the army and security forces, who cordoned off the square in anticipation of any riots.

In the western Bekaa, protesters cut off the Rashaya highway between the towns of Al-Bireh and Al-Rafid with obstacles and dirt, and prevented citizens from passing in both directions towards the Bekaa and the south.

Today, 31 soldiers were wounded during the protests in the Lebanese city of Tripoli, while the security forces arrested five people for this.

Since October 17, 2019, many Lebanese regions have been witnessing demonstrations and sit-ins to protest against the deteriorating living and economic conditions and to demand the fight against corruption in the country.
