A woman died after a fire in a Frankfurt retirement home on Wednesday night.

Frankfurt - In the Johanna-Kirchner-Altenhilfezentrum in Gutleutstrasse in Frankfurt, a fire broke out in an apartment during the night.
As the Frankfurt fire brigade reports, the emergency services were alerted about the fire in Gutleutviertel at around 4 a.m. on Wednesday (27.01.2021).
The first emergency services were on site after just a few minutes and immediately initiated rescue measures and fire fighting.
The 76-year-old resident of the apartment where the fire broke out suffered severe burns and smoke poisoning.
The fire brigade was able to first rescue the woman from the apartment and hand it over to the rescue service.
According to information from the Frankfurt police, she was taken to a special clinic in Offenbach, where she died that morning.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the surrounding apartments were not affected.
The remaining apartments in the residential complex in Frankfurt's Gallus are therefore still habitable.
In total, the rescue service and the fire brigade were in action with 9 vehicles and 26 personnel.
