The administration of US President Joe Biden today announced a temporary freeze on arms sales to Saudi Arabia.
The Associated Press quoted the US State Department as saying in a statement that the new administration is reviewing sales, but has not made any decision on whether it will actually take place, describing the temporary suspension as a routine administrative procedure taken by most new departments with large-scale arms sales, noting that the review process includes Selling precision-guided munitions to Riyadh as well as F-35 fighters to Abu Dhabi.
The statement added, "The ministry temporarily stops the implementation of some US defense transfers and sales that are pending in the context of Foreign Military Sales and Direct Commercial Sales to allow the new leadership the opportunity to review."
The administration of former US President Trump has been working continuously to supply weapons to the Saudi regime, which has been leading our aggression against Yemen since 2015, committing countless massacres against civilians, especially children and women, in its daily raids and bombing of populated areas and using the suffocating siege as a means of pressure amid criticism of international organizations.
