At nearly 3 pm today (27th), a 5.5-ton truck caught fire in the Cheung Tsing Tunnel towards Tuen Mun in the Tsing Yi Cheung Tsing Tunnel. The driver's hand was burned. Another male passenger was bruised while escaping from the vehicle. Both were sent to hospital by ambulance. .
The police and firefighters arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
The truck involved was parked on the slow line.
The Transport Department announced that the slow lane of the Tsing Yi Northwest Interchange towards Yuen Long near the Tsing Yi Administration Building was still closed due to a fire.
Motorists can only use the remaining down lanes.
The traffic on the site is currently heavy.
