Acting Homeland Security Secretary Pete Gaynor issued a statement raising the level of the terror alert in the United States, citing a climate of growing threats linked to what he described as violent extremists against the US federal government.
The ministry stated on its website that it had no credible information about a specific plot, but it had noticed that violent riots took place in recent days, and that the threats were expected to continue for several weeks.
