Nicola Gratteri (born in Gerace, 62), anti-mafia prosecutor from Catanzaro, has lived for decades in an armored bunker.
It has been years since he went to the movies or walked along the seashore. Today he is the stone in the shoe and the main target of the 'Ndrangheta, the largest group. mafiosi in Europe, which has experienced tremendous growth in recent decades, with a turnover of 43 billion euros and subsidiaries around the world.
Nicola Gratteri has just launched the largest trial in history against this criminal organization, a maxi-trial which could only be compared to that initiated by Giovanni Falcone against Cosa Nostra.
In 2019, the prosecutor ordered the detention of 400 people in Italy, Germany, Bulgaria and Switzerland as part of Operation Rinascita-Scott, which is named after the late Sieben William Scott, a former special agent.
