Six Nations: the government authorizes the tournament to be held

The French authorities have come out in favor of exemptions allowing the smooth running of the European competition which begins on February 6.

On the occasion of the presentation conference of the next Six Nations Tournament, Frenchman Benjamin Morel, general manager of the Tournament, explained on Wednesday that he was in contact with the French government to find out if the competition could take place.

“We have provided all the necessary guarantees to the French authorities with regard to all of our protocols.

We have this particular point of the "septaine" (7 days of isolation, Editor's note) for what is outside European countries, it affects the United Kingdom.

We are waiting for a clarification on the people concerned or not in relation to this "septaine", in the same way as the other sporting events which benefit from kind of exemptions.

We are waiting for all of this.

But this concerns matches that will take place by the end of February.

And to add: "For now, we are very focused on the organization as it is planned today."

The situation may still change

Exemptions - especially for the "septaines" - for the national teams participating in the Tournament will therefore be put in place.

In order to best respect the health bubble that has been put in place, the French Rugby Federation and the National Rugby League have agreed to return to a closed group of 31 units, and no longer 42, until the end of the Tournament. of the six nations, in order to limit the return trips of players. 

It remains, however, to know how the health situation will develop in the coming weeks, with in particular the spread of the British variant of Covid-19.

The XV of France, which is currently preparing in Nice, must receive Scotland on February 28 and Wales on March 20.

They will start the Tournament on February 6 in Rome against Italy.

His second match is due to take place in Dublin on February 14.

Fabien Galthié's team must travel another time to England on March 13.
