The first German to start the Vendée Globe and finish it, Boris Herrmann has just concluded his round the world trip at low speed after hitting a Spanish trawler on Wednesday evening when he could still dream of the podium.
The skipper of the well damaged monohull Seaexplorer - Yacht Club de Monaco cleared the line during the day and in the mist.
His six-hour bonus for having taken part in the rescue of Kevin Escoffier does not allow him to overtake Thomas Rettant (Linked-Out) and ranks 5th in this ninth edition.
@borisherrmann took the time to recount his mishap in a video: https://t.co/OPuUFkAyWu
