Yannick Bestaven crossed the finish line of the Vendée Globe this Thursday at 4:19 am, after 80 days 13 hours 59 minutes and 46 seconds of racing.
A time to which we must subtract the 10:15 bonus granted to the skipper of Maître CoQ for having participated in the rescue operation of Kevin Escoffier.
His new time allows him to lead Charlie Dalin, who arrived first at 8.45 p.m. Wednesday, by just under three hours, and to win the 9th edition of the solo round-the-world race.
At 48 years old, Bestaven, who took part for the 2nd time in the Vendée Globe after a first attempt resulting in abandonment in 2008, joins Titouan Lamazou (1990), Alain Gautier (1993), Christophe Auguin (1997), Michel Desjoyeaux (2001, 2009), Vincent Riou (2005), François Gabart (2013) and Armel Le Cléac'h (2017) in the closed circle of the winners of Everest des Mers.
