The return to face-to-face teaching for the final classes took the high schools in the Ebersberg district by surprise.

The school principals have numerous problems to solve by Monday.

District

- When, from Monday next week in the grammar schools, the final classes, specifically the so-called Q 12, are allowed to return to the schools at least in alternating lessons, it becomes clear that the equipment at the schools is not sufficient.

The other grades will then also be affected by the current change.

However, it is also clear that the schools are thinking a lot about coping with the situation in the best possible way.

The information for the restart on Monday will not come until Thursday

The official notification to be passed on to the parents came from the Ministry of Education to the grammar schools on Thursday at 9.09 a.m.

Quite short term.

"Pupils, parents and teachers would like clearer answers," says Simone Voit, director at the Kirchseeon grammar school.

Hints could already be found at the previous press conference.

"We are pleased that the Q 12 is back." However, it is a challenge.

"But we are flexible."

However, a lot of coordination in many details is still necessary.

“I have just called the district office.

They don't even know whether school transport can be ramped up, ”says Peter Popp, headmaster at the Markt Schwaben high school.

The school had considered teaching the respective 12th grade courses in large rooms such as the gym or the auditorium at a distance.

Thats not OK.

We stream what we can.

Nicole Storz from Grafing grammar school

It is obviously possible, however, that the individual courses in the final class can at least write exams and school assignments together.

This is important in order to meet the deadline for grades and then be able to write the Abitur, as Markus Zimmermann from the Grafing grammar school emphasizes.

But he also points out restrictions.

It is not possible to teach half the course in school and broadcast the other half of the course via video conference.

There are both technical and educational problems.

“We stream what we can,” says Nicole Storz, head of the Grafing grammar school.

One option could be for teachers to be available to inquire about Q-12 students at home for about half an hour in the afternoon.

Another problem: "We would not be able to do it if all the teachers from the classrooms had to give distance lessons," says Marion Freytag, Gymnasium Vaterstetten.

Many teachers are currently working from home.

If they are to hold part of the lesson in school again, as is now the case with Q-12, they would either have to stay in the school in their own rooms for distance lessons in other classes, which is probably not possible, or to and fro drive.

Some teachers live close to where they work, while others live further away.

A lot has to be organized.

A number of other considerations are also being discussed in schools, for example extending lessons more into the afternoon.

But nothing has yet been finally decided.

Options also appear to organize alternating lessons on a weekly or daily basis.

Distance learning from school: the internet is too slow for that

Depending on the school, restrictions are feared for the entire distance teaching, which, according to information from the Ebersberger Zeitung, will only be able to take place to a very limited extent according to the timetable with video conferences: The schools' internet connection allows numerous teachers to take video lessons simultaneously from the school building, where they must be present, not to.
