Amazon Prime Video presents some 2021 premieres with Diego Luna, Eugenio Derbez and the long-awaited biographical series about Maradona.

Amazon Prime Video announced the premiere series it will have in 2021. Eugenio Derbez, Diego Luna, the Chivas de Guadalajara soccer team and Diego Maradona will be part of these productions.

In a videoconference with the press, executives of the Amazon Prime Video platform presented the news that the audience will be able to see this year.

According to Jen Salke, director of Amazon Studios: "Since Prime Video was launched around the world, Amazon has remained focused on providing customers with local series powered by the best local voices."

Original productions

One of the streaming company's announcements was that up to 15 new series and five original movies will be produced in the next 3 to 5 years in Mexico.

For now, the list of premieres for 2021 is as follows:

Documentary about the Chivas de Guadalajara

A new sports documentary series follows Club Deportivo Guadalajara, known as Las Chivas de Guadalajara.

"Bread and circus" (season 2)

Diego Luna returns to converse with various personalities and uses the ritual of sharing food as a trigger to dialogue and learn different points of view.

The guests will be politicians, activists and different figures who will address fundamental issues of universal interest in contemporary societies.

These conversations will be accompanied by menus from renowned chefs in Mexico.

"LOL: Last One Laughing" (seasons 3 and 4)

The fun Emmy®-winning comedy competition series hosted by Eugenio Derbez will return for two more seasons.

The proposal will have a mix of well-known and up-and-coming comedians from all over Mexico facing off for a big cash prize.

The dynamics of this reality show consists of locking the participants in a house in which they will have to have several challenges and will not be able to laugh, since, if they do, they will be disqualified.

"On a trip with the Derbez" (season 2)

In the first season, we saw the members of the Derbez clan on a month-long trip in Morocco.

Now, Eugenio Derbez, his wife Alessandra Rosaldo, their children José Eduardo Derbez, Vadhir Derbez and their daughter Aislinn Derbez embark on another adventure.

On this occasion, they did not reveal the vacation spot they will go to and there will be fewer human participants, but a quadruped joins the clan: Eugenio's bulldog.

"Maradona: blessed dream"

The most anticipated series since 2020 is dedicated to soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona.

This biographical series will be divided into three parts: the beginnings of the star, the success obtained after the World Cup in Mexico 86 and his adult life.

The cast is made up of three actors who play Maradona: Nicolás Goldschmidt (adolescent Maradona), Nazareno Casero (young adult Maradona) and Juan Palomino (adult Maradona).

And two actresses who play the player's wife: Julieta Cardinali (Claudia Villafañe adult) and Laura Esquivel (Claudia Villafañe young), among others.

Amazon Prime Video announced that they are allocating more than US $ 2.65 million to covid-19 funds to support the recovery of the TV, film and theater production community in Mexico and other Latin American countries.

The release dates of any of these series are not known, nor the names of the other original releases, so, if you have this streaming service, you should be aware.
