Home closure after outbreak: dozen residents and employees tested positive
After a surprising dozen residents and caregivers tested positive for the
Sars-CoV-2 virus
, the facility in Trappentreustraße was closed on Epiphany.
Ultimately, according to the health department, the corona test was positive in 63 residents and 24 employees.
Almost a third of the infected residents have died since then.
There were no deaths among the employees.
16 of the dead died on site in the nursing home, the office continues, three Covid 19 patients in the clinic.
"The doctor on site decides on the admission to the clinic," comments the
district office
, which is why very few patients came to the hospital.
Corona in the clinic: That is why not all life-threatening patients come to the intensive care unit
The medical director of the district clinic,
Dr.
Peter Kreissl
, also points out that corona patients would also die in the normal ward.
If the patient cannot be transferred to the
intensive care unit
, this is always done in consultation with the doctors, relatives and, if possible, those affected.
"We do not perform triage," emphasizes Kreissl.
If the fight against the virus symptoms is hopeless due to the general condition of the patient, there is often a desire for a dignified death without massive intensive care measures.
The health department is currently looking for an explanation of why the Markt Schwabener AWO home was hit so badly by the outbreak despite intensive testing.
"A favorable factor could be that many residents in the facility
live
with
dementia
who, due to their clinical picture, can hardly take
hygiene measures
," said a district office spokeswoman.
During an on-site consultation, the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety found no deficits, only made minor suggestions for improvement.
In response to a request from the Ebersberger Zeitung on Tuesday afternoon, the AWO did not comment on the case until the editorial deadline.
Nursing homes in the Ebersberg district: first vaccination almost complete
The
first vaccination
against Covid-19 did not get the home residents until January 23rd, probably because the facility was already massively affected at the beginning of January.
The district office has a ray of light to report regarding the vaccination situation: the first vaccination is planned for the residents of the Schwabener Walterhof market, which is also virus-ridden, on Thursday.
Then all nursing homes will be vaccinated against Covid-19 with the first dose.
