Dog boarding instead of the "Trifthofstüberl"

The building of the current “Trifthofstüberl” in Weilheim is to become a boarding house.

The building committee of the city council has now unanimously agreed to a request - although it is a "borderline case".

Weilheim - For decades, the building at Trifthofstrasse 57, located directly on the pedestrian and cycle path underpass of the railway embankment, has housed a restaurant with a beer garden: the “Trifthofstüberl”.

But its days are numbered.

One will close, confirms tenant Konstantinos Alexandridis, who took over the restaurant last April and offers Bavarian-Greek cuisine there, at the request of the Tagblatt.

Only the exact time has not yet been determined.

For the time being, there are still take-away meals in the “Trifthofstüberl” - as is well known, the only one that the Corona regulations currently allow.

At the end of March, Alexandridis, who has also been running the “Seehäusl” on Engelsrieder See near Rott since 2016 (and continues to run it), plans to open a delicatessen in the rooms of a former furniture store on Münchener Strasse.

What is to become of the current “Trifthofstüberl” was learned at the latest meeting of the Weilheim construction committee.

A request to change the use of the restaurant into a company apartment with a boarding house was found there.

You have “a bit of a stomachache” in view of the residential development on the other side of the embankment and “possible impairments from barking”, admitted Manfred Stork, the head of the municipal building administration.

But the project itself would be exceptionally permissible in the industrial park.

"Not the ideal location" for a kennel

Mayor Markus Loth (BfW) spoke of a “borderline case”: “It's not the ideal location, but you could live with it.” According to the city building authority, the applicant for the planned dog boarding has been running such a facility in Penzberg for seven years.

The "personal suitability" is checked by the veterinary office;

this also checks and approves the structural condition of the building, which also includes a garden.

The generally five to six pension dogs are kept in the living area, so that care is guaranteed around the clock - without keeping in a kennel.

Greens representative Alfred Honisch said the operator wanted to move from Penzberg to Weilheim - and that she “basically doesn't bark”, as his research showed.

For Honisch it is therefore clear: The dog boarding house instead of the “Trifthofstüberl” can be “definitely agreed”.

Rupert Pentenrieder (BfW), the city council's agriculture officer, saw it like this: Such a project “has to go more or less into the industrial park”, according to Pentenrieder, because there is no privileged outdoor area for a dog boarding house.

Finally, the building committee unanimously agreed to the request.
