However, the Population and Immigration Authority flatly rejected the application to extend her visa because she has been in the country for more than eight years.

The girl was independent until about five years ago, when she fell and was injured.

Since then she has been suffering from physical difficulties and needs a close caregiver.

Her daughter Sharon says that with the announcement of the caregiver's departure, she and her sister turned to nursing companies in an attempt to find a new caregiver for the artist - something that turned out to be particularly complex for them.

"We have been told in companies that there is a shortage of caregivers because many have left because of the corona, and my mother is also 99 so even if there is someone relevant, no one wants to come work for her," she describes, explaining that workers prefer younger patients to stay for a long time. .

Finally, they located Maria, who worked with an acquaintance of the deceased family, but since she has been in the country for more than 63 months, she required special approval.

Maria entered Israel more than eight years ago, so the application to extend her visa was rejected outright.

"Those who are willing to come and work for such elderly people are those who have no choice but to ask for a special permit," says Sharon.
