India announced today that it is controlling the outbreak of the Coronavirus and containing the pandemic in a number of areas of the country.
Reuters quoted Indian Health Minister Harsh Vardhan as saying that his country "has succeeded in containing the pandemic," noting that the number of cases registered in the past twenty-four hours is less than 12,000.
Vardhan explained that 146 regions out of 718 in India had not reported any cases of corona a week ago, and that 18 regions had not recorded new cases for two weeks.
India has so far recorded 10 million 700 thousand cases and nearly 153,847 deaths, which is one of the lowest death rates from the disease in the world, partly due to the predominance of young people over its population.
