The Covid is poisoning French democracy.
On the pretext of waging
"war"
on the virus, the Head of State has appropriated too many prerogatives.
On January 21, Emmanuel Macron warns, in front of students:
"I will not be able to reopen the bars immediately, we will have to wait a bit."
This “I” is not only anecdotal: it reveals the concentration of power, an official truth, the marginalization of opponents.
That same day, the president
got
carried away:
"We have become a nation of 66 million prosecutors!"
On March 31, 2020, he was annoyed by the
“irresponsible”
who criticized his management of the crisis.
However, this expression of opposition would be less virulent if the institutional checks and balances could play their role of shock absorber.
Macron's susceptibility is that of an isolated leader who sees divergence as personal aggression.
