226 people were injured in clashes between protesters and police forces in Tripoli, Lebanon, the country's national news agency reported last night (Thursday). This is the third night in a row that protests have been held against the severe economic crisis and closure imposed earlier this month following the spread of the corona, as well as fears of a collapse of hospitals.
Protesters reportedly threw Molotov cocktails and stones at police, who responded with tear gas. Nine policemen were injured and 66 people were hospitalized. "We are here to demand food. Hungry people," said Muhammad Azdin, a 20-year-old protester. "It is time for people to take to the streets." Many residents of the country have been left without income since the closure began.
