The Israel Today newspaper continues to lead its competitors at the annual level, with an annual exposure rate of 23.7% relating to an average daily exposure during January-December 2020, compared to an exposure rate of 30.6% in the corresponding period in 2019. This is according to TGI survey data published this morning (Fifth).

The daily exposure to Yedioth Ahronoth is 21.5% on an average weekday during January-December 2020, compared with 26.9% during January-December 2019. In annual terms, the gap between the newspapers is statistically significant.

In the weekend press, Yedioth Ahronoth leads in annual terms during January-December 2020 with an exposure rate of 27.1%, with the newspaper recording a decrease of 30.7% in the previous period (January-December 2019) - a statistically significant decrease.

"Israel Today" drops the exposure rate during January-December 2020 to 24.8% compared to 31% in the previous period (January-December 2019), a statistically significant decrease.

The gap between the newspapers on the weekends in annual terms is statistically significant.

Even in semi-annual terms in weekday newspapers, "Israel Today" leads significantly with a daily exposure of 22.3% (down from 25.1% in the previous half, which is a significant decrease).

Yedioth Ahronoth recorded a decrease in exposure to 20.4%, compared with 22.6% in the previous half (the decrease is not significant).

In the weekend press category in a semi-annual analysis, Yedioth Ahronoth leads but records a significant decrease to 25.2% compared to 28.9% in the previous half.

"Israel Today" recorded a significant decrease to 23.1% exposure in the last half, compared to 26.6% in the previous half.

The gap between the newspapers (weekday and weekend) is not statistically significant in semi-annual terms.

In analyzing the trend of total newspaper reading (by the years 2020-2017), one can see the effect of the corona plague on reading behavior and the decrease in exposure during 2020 compared to previous years.

The exposure rate on weekdays is 37.8% when reading weekday newspapers and 44.9% when reading weekend newspapers compared to 2019, when the figures were 46.5% on weekdays and 52% on weekends.

The slight improvement in the reading rate observed in 2019 was probably due to the proliferation of election campaigns in the period, which affected the discourse and public interest in news and politics and as a result influenced media consumption habits).
